Tropic Cinema is proud to present their 5th annual Women's Film Festival. Each Wednesday in March, Tropic Cinema will be paying tribute to women's history by screening a different film that is directed by and about women. It is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in history and culture while honoring women in cinema!
This year's lineup is as follows:
- March 5 - Selma: "a powerful historical drama that chronicles the pivotal moments of the Civil Rights Movement, focusing on the 1965 voting rights marches from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama."
- March 12 - Catherine Called Birdy: "a delightful coming-of-age film set in medieval England."
- March 19 - La Pointe Courte: a French new wave film about a couple trying to save their deteriorating marriage.
- March 26 - Desperately Seeking Susan: a comedy-drama about a bored suburban housewife who spices up her life by reading personal ads.
According to the event description, "Each screening promises an enriching experience, beginning with an introduction that sets the stage for the themes and significance of the film being presented. Following each screening, attendees will have the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions during post-film QA sessions."
All movies start at 6pm. Purchase your tickets in advance to guarantee a seat!
