The Florida Everglades are one of those places that feel truly wild. When you're there, you're aware of the uncertainty and majesty of nature in a way that you aren't in most places. The national park- which is also a world heritage site- protects an important habitat for numerous rare and endangered species, including manatee, American crocodiles, and Florida panthers. To pay tribute to the park and to highlight the importance of conservation, a new art exhibition has been installed.
"Wild Observations in Everglade National Park" is an incredible exhibit by artist Deborah Mitchell. Mitchell is a conservation artist who practices primarily in South Florida. Her art "explores changes in wildlife corridors, combining scientific research with artistic interpretation." The resulting pieces are amazing and quite inspirational. They challenge viewers to consider the way that living things connect to each other and how that is important to our survival.
42 of her mixed media works are placed on the ground or on buildings in seven locations. Everglades National Park is pleased to host the outdoor art exhibit and guests will be delighted to see it as they explore the park. They start at Ernest F. Coe Visitor Center and continue along trails and boardwalks.
