The restoration of the 110-year old bridge began in 2017. Originally constructed in 1912 as part of the Overseas Railroad, this bridge has long been regarded as an important part of Keys history, so the completion of the restoration has been highly anticipated. Now, the public can enjoy the bridge while walking and biking!
Repairs have been made to the structural steel and bridge joint system. New decking and pedestrian and bicycle handrails have also been added. This has made the bridge significantly safer for recreational use.
